The American Academy of Music and Dance was founded with the goal of inspiring their students and enriching their lives through the arts. Having taught thousands of students, Dean brings a positive and upbeat approach to learning and focuses on making the experience a positive one for every student.
AAMD's founder, Dean Kline, has been playing the guitar and piano for more than 30 years and applies a variety of musical styles to his instruction. He has developed a variety of innovative techniques to help his students learn more quickly. At the core of his curriculum, Dean teaches students using the style of music they love most, which keeps them motivated as they learn.
Dean has been teaching and choreographing dance for more than 30 years. He has performed at the Yale Bowl, The Guggenheim Museum in New York City, and has danced in dozens of reviews since he began performing at age 13. Dean performs ballroom, musical comedy and Broadway-style dance and has studied dance from around the world.
Prior to founding AAMD, Dean was senior manager of communications at Dell, where he worked for 15 years. His work included speech writing for Michael Dell, managing worldwide employee communications, and managing communications for Dell's education business, among other positions. In his education role, Dean worked closely with national and global education leaders to help shape the national dialogue around 21st century skills and helping students prepare for life in a global economy. Prior to Dell, Dean worked for IBM for 8 years, including as a member of the corporate communications team at the company's corporate headquarters in Armonk, NY.
While working at Dell, Dean was the youth minister at the Lakeway Church in Lakeway, Texas, leading both the junior high and high school youth programs. He also attended the Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary as a student in their master of divinity program. Dean strives to incorporate a positive outlook into his daily teaching, with the goal of inspiring his students to reach for high goals, while demonstrating kindness and mutual respect to others.
Dean is a member of the Music Teachers National Association, Bluebonnet District Music Teachers Association, Ohio Wesleyan University Alumni Association, Round Rock Community Choir and the Lakeway Church. In addition to his instructional work, Dean volunteers to support the local community, including performing at local schools, Pioneer Farms events, and other community venues. He volunteers his time to emcee community events, including the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo's Cowboy Breakfast, bringing his upbeat, positive message to audiences throughout Central Texas.
